The Manor is ideally placed at the foot of the Talyfan
mountain, surrounded by the forests, rivers, mountains and lakes of
the Snowdonia National Park. If you like to walk this is the place for
you, from the Manor you can walk to the summit of the Talyfan mountain
at an easy pace in 2 hours. The views are stunning, you will almost
certainly see wild Welsh mountain ponies and in the spring new born
foals. The higher mountains (over 3000 ft ) are a bit further down the
valley. The Gwydir forrest is a fantastic place to explore on foot with
marked routes dedicated to walkers. We are within easy reach of the
major tourist attractions and just 5 minutes drive to the sandy beaches
of the Conwy coast. Close to the town of Conwy we get some of the best
weather, less than half the rainfall of the area around Snowdon. For

Historic castles and stately homes
Wales
is often described as a land of castles. Conwy castle is less
than 5 minutes from Gwern Borter and was an important part of
King Edward I's plan to surround Gwynedd in "an iron ring
of castles" to subdue the rebellious Welsh population. There
are many National Trust stately homes open to the public and of
course the famous Bodnant Gardens.

Slate and copper mines
Mining
has formed a vital part of Welsh industry and culture for hundreds
of years. Several slate and copper mines are open to the public
offering visitors a unique look back into the industrial past
of this region of Wales. The Great Orme copper mine, the oldest
copper mine in the world is to found in nearby Llandudno.
